Fillers
Fillers are a safe, effective and relatively painless procedure designed to smooth lines and wrinkles or enhance lip volume. As you age, your face may lose its youthful firmness and fullness due to a decrease in fat and collagen. This leads to a sunken appearance and more prominent wrinkles. Fillers restore smooth, natural-looking volume to your face in just one treatment. They can be used alone or in combination with other cosmetic treatments (such as Botox® injections) with minimal downtime.

Facial fillers have become a popular, minimally invasive way to restore skin volume and smooth out wrinkles and fine lines caused by aging and loss of skin elasticity. During a dermal filler procedure, our highly trained staff will inject the filler just below the surface of the skin, targeting areas showing the effects of age. Depending on the type of filler used, this treatment produces almost immediately noticeable results, giving your skin a more youthful, refreshed appearance. Most dermal filler procedures take less than 30 minutes, and you can usually get back to your regular routine right away.
How Long Do Fillers Last?
Dermal filler treatments have proven to produce a long-lasting and noticeably youthful appearance. The lasting effects of dermal fillers vary depending on the type of filler used as well as the area of treatment. Dermal fillers provide temporary results that last 6-12 months, while others may last up to 2 years. Deeper injections and certain advanced fillers can offer even longer-lasting results.
Other contributing factors, such as lifestyle, metabolism, and the overall condition of the area treated, can influence the longevity of the filler. To determine which filler is right for you, it’s important to speak with your medical practitioner about the areas you would like improved and the results you are seeking.
What Happens During A Filler Procedure?
Using a fine needle, a member of RevIV’s dermal filler team will inject small amounts of filler beneath the skin. While you may feel a slight pinch or mild discomfort at each injection, the process is generally well-tolerated by most patients. Most dermal filler appointments are quick, 30 minutes or less; however, for more extensive treatments, the procedure may take up to an hour, depending on the number of areas being treated.
After the procedure, many of our clients return to their regular activities with minimal downtime, though some swelling or bruising may occur in some patients. The results of a dermal filler appointment are generally immediate and, depending on the filler of choice, will continue to improve over the following days and months as the filler settles.
Does a Filler Procedure Hurt?
This is one of the most common questions people have about dermal filler treatments. Dermal filler injections utilize a very fine needle that causes only minimal discomfort and is generally well-tolerated by customers.
Each of our dermal filler procedures begins with the application of a topical numbing cream, desensitizing the treatment area prior to the beginning. This helps to minimize any pain or discomfort caused by the injections and makes the procedure more pleasant. Throughout the procedure, additional numbing cream or the use of an ice pack may minimize the after-effects of the procedure.
Dermal filler treatments are a minimally invasive procedure that generally lasts about 30 minutes or less. Our past client feedback has reported that RevIV’s dermal filler procedures are comfortable, quick, and quite painless.
What Are Fillers Used For?
Dermal fillers are used to reduce or eliminate the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles on the face. Areas that are generally targeted by a dermal filler procedure include:
- Cheeks
- Chin & Jawline
- Temple
- Forehead
- Lips
Dermal fillers can also be used to reduce the appearance of prominent scars by filling in areas with missing tissue and evening out the surrounding area.
What Are The Different Types Of Fillers?
Facial fillers, or dermal fillers, are available in a variety of different types and are branded under numerous different names. Each of these fillers works differently to address specific areas of the face to restore volume and youthfulness. Dermal fillers fall into two main categories: synthetic fillers and fillers derived from substances that are naturally occurring in our bodies. Although synthetic fillers are manufactured substances, they are biocompatible and have been proven safe for use.
Hyaluronic Acid (HA): Natural
Hyaluronic acid is a substance that is naturally produced by your body to hydrate and add volume to the skin. As you age, your body begins to produce less hyaluronic acid, resulting in wrinkles and sagging of the skin. Hyaluronic Acid fillers are an ideal choice for smoothing fine lines and restoring volume in areas like the cheeks and lips. The effects of Hyaluronic Acid fillers typically last 6-12 months, and treatments are well-tolerated by most patients.
Calcium Hydroxylapatite (CaHA): Natural
Calcium hydroxylapatite is a naturally occurring mineral in the body that is primarily found in bones. This type of filler is often used to eliminate deeper wrinkles and areas needing more significant volume restoration. Calcium Hydroxylapatite provides long-lasting results of up to a year or more, with its collagen-stimulating properties continuing to improve skin appearance over time.
Poly-L-Lactic Acid (PLLA): Synthetic Biocompatible
Poly-L-lactic acid is a synthetic filler that stimulates collagen production, which helps smooth out deep wrinkles and folds. The results from PLLA injections can last up to two years or more as collagen builds and improves the skin’s firmness over time. This type of filler is typically used for restoring volume to areas that have lost their original elasticity.
